Skateboarding

So what did son do last week while the rest of the family enjoyed concerts, went on long walks with the fairy godmother, saw a play and met up with friends?

He attended a skateboard camp and is now able to skate off ramps of various heights.
"What do you like about skating?", I ask him. "Is it a bit like flying in an airplane?" (Because that I would understand!)
"Not really," he answers, "but it is exciting not knowing if you can actually make it to the bottom without crashing."

Hmm.

Filter In Concert

Daughter loves going to concerts, especially when there is an all access pass involved. Because backstage means an endless supply of apple juice and gummi bears.

It means getting a great spot, right next to the stage, to take pictures. It means getting picks handed to you by the guitar players...

...and it means that you can ask them all kind of questions after the concert, for example: "So, what is YOUR favorite band?" and they will give you surprising answers like: "The Beatles".

Sometimes the smaller concerts turn out to be the most memorable ones. If you get the chance you should definitley check out the band "Filter". The singer is the guy who doesn't want to get off stage no matter how exhaused his fellow band members are.

Concert pics by daughter. She clearly liked Phil Buckman (bass) best.

Back Home

We are back home where it is raining cats and dogs, sigh. Working through a huge pile of laundry, I miss all those acres and acres of wildflowers.

Switzerland II

One really amazing hike let us over hanging bridges. The bridges tend to swing from side to side, are quite long and only five people are allowed on them at one time.

Switzerland

Last week I took the kids to Switzerland where our mission was to find a wood chuck in its natural habitat, hike as many mountains and eat as much delicious food as possible. And I am proud to say, that we achieved all those goals and more...

cute little Swiss villages,

breath taking landscapes, (seriously, this picture looks fake, doesn't it?)
